Day 3: Skykomish to Coulee Dam

Today’s ride was scheduled for 107 miles with 5,780 feet of climbing.  That seemed a bit daunting for the 3rd day of the ride so Terri and I opted for a 25 mile bump which took out an 8 mile climb. We ended our ride with 82 miles and 2,743 feet of climbing. We were both so happy we took advantage of this option because it gave us an hour to explore the Coulee Dam Museum.

It was a beautiful day with lots of rolling hills flanked by snowcapped mountains. I have to say their idea of a rolling hills is a bit different than mine. Theirs are 4-7% grades and some pretty long. The weather perfect and and we even had a nice tailwind for part of the ride.  All and all a great day!

These weird Rock formations were everywhere. I guess this whole area was formed from volcanos

Grand Coulee Dam. The original dam was constructed between 1933 - 1940 at a cost of $300M.

Terri and I. Looking pretty good after riding 80 miles
