Today was by far my favorite day of the trip to date. Today we crossed into Idaho and rode through some of the most scenic areas and guess what??? Only 2,374 feet of climbing in 94 miles!
So, we started out with breakfast at Gonzaga University. My Dad always liked watching them durning the NCAA tournament. The campus seemed very nice.
After that we took a number of turns to get out Spokane. It was then we battled the hills and headwind for about 12 miles. I was really feeling sluggish after our big ride yesterday. Finally about 20 miles into the ride we stopped at a gas station and I drank a diet code and took some Tylenol. At that point I didn't know how I was going to make the rest of the day but boy am I glad I pushed on. We had some good downhills after that stop and by the time we hit Idaho I felt much better.
From there we made our way to the Coeur d’Alenes Trail. It is a 73 mile, beautifully maintained paved trail! We rode the trail for around 43 miles. It was beautiful and we had views of either a lake or river for most of the trip. This is a place I would love to return to one day!
It was also another glorious day weather wise. I guess that Irish Prayer is working.
