Day 4: Grand Coulee To Spokane WA
First century of the year today (101.9 miles) with 4,465 feet of climbing. We were very fortunate that the weather was on our side and even had about 30 miles of tailwind after lunch. Most of the other time it was a crosswind so can’t really complain about that.
The day started out with a 2 mile climb of 5-10% grades. This was to get us out of the Coulee Dam area. Then, at about mile 8 we had a 5.5 mile climb with 4-7% grades. So we did about 1,800 feet in the first 15 miles. The last 10 miles were on rough roads and we did those into a headwind.
Aside from breakfast and lunch it was pretty much a heads down biking day.
