Today we woke up with frost on our tents. It was 37 degrees out when we started riding but warmed up quickly to another gorgeous day. The first 36 mile was along highway 20 which was crazy busy even at 7:30 am.We had several short climbs and crossed the continental divide (elevation 7,072 feet) again as we left Montana and entered Idaho for the second time.
At mile 36.6 we finally turned off onto the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway. We didn’t spot any wildlife but sure enjoyed the views and seeing the Teton Mountains get closer as we rode. Our lunch stop was at the Mesa Lower Falls rest area.
The ride today was much shorter and mostly downhill so we made good time and made it to Ashton by 12:30 our earliest arrival yet! We treated ourselves to root beer floats and malts at an old fashioned drive in. Tonight we camp at the North Fremont High School
Stats for today: 65 miles and only 600 feet of elevation gain!
