Today was a day of two rides. This morning we left Jackson Hole and rode through Teton National Park! This is my favorite National Park and I enjoyed every minute and every view of the Teton Mountain Range. We stopped at Jenny Lake and took a short walk down to see it.
Once we left the park we continued our ride to lunch which was at mile 50.1. After lunch the second ride took place as we climbed 17 miles up the Absaroka Mountains on the Togwotee Pass (elevation 9,658 feet). It took me about 2:45 minutes (with stops) to make the summit. It wasn’t the most difficult ride as the grades were just 2-6% but is was the longest climb I have done to date. Also the altitude really had me breathing hard.
After all that hard climbing we were treated to a wonderful 9 mile descent where I reached 40.4 mph. The next 20 miles were mostly downhill and we even had some great tailwinds for about 7 of those miles.
Tonight we are staying at the Dubois KOA. We were treated to a wonderful dinner of pulled pork, grilled potatoes and roasted vegetables along with desserts! Tonight there are fireworks but I don’t think I will make it that long tonight
Stats: 100.2 miles, elevation gain: 4,380
