Day 29 Layover day in Pierre South Dakota

On a rest day you would think we could sleep in but oh no. We were up at 5:00 am trying to get in line for the one washer and dryer that was available at the hotel. Terri had the great idea of heading to the 24 hour laundromat about 2 miles away. So we loaded up our laundry and headed out on our bikes!

It was really a great decision because on the way back to the hotel Terri took me on the scenic route through the historic part of town past many sculptures and the State Capital building.  It was really a great morning and we took a lot of pictures!

Summary of “Monument Memories”:  424 miles, 19,813 feet of climbing - Terri did 15 extra miles and a brutal 10+ miles of the worst gravel road in history! So much to see and experience:  Spearfish Canyon, Black Hills, Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain, Mount Rushmore, and the Badlands!  So much to pack into one week of biking!

Terri took this picture of me taking a picture of the State Capital.  So cool!
