Another beautiful day! The first 35 miles were on the Pere Marquette bike trail. Again a beautiful paved path. We took the trail to a city called Midland. Dow Corporation started in Midland. In Midland, we stopped for a latte which was delicious! Our morning coffee in camp had not been the best. Most days it is just warm water with coffee color so it is always nice to stop for the real thing! The added benefit is that it always gives me some real biking energy!
The rest of the day was spent mostly on rural roads that were not the best but we made good time. We made it to Frankenmuth by around 1:00. It is a very cute Bavarian town. Camp is at a Jellystone RV park. When we arrived Gasper who rode with us the first 3 weeks was there to greet us with a cooler of beer! Tonight Kim, Terri and I decided to get a room at a local motel to enjoy some AC.
Dinner tonight was a real treat. We at at a local restaurant called the Bavarian Inn which is known for it’s family style fried chicken dinner! It was amazing and such a treat to be served rather than the typical buffet style meals we have had. Tomorrow we have breakfast at zehnder’s another restaurant owned by the same family.
Stats: 82 miles and only 472 feet of elevation gain!
