So, there was a change in route plans for today because our overnight destination in Oswego fell through. So, they added about 15 additional miles and takes us to a Yogi Bear’s Campground in Mexico NY.
Once again, we packed up very wet tents due to the high humidity but at least the temperatures remain on the cooler side which made sleeping good.
The route today continued in the Finger Lakes region. We caught glimpses of Cayuga, Owasco and Skaneateles Lakes (pronounced “skinnyatlas”). We stopped at a nice bakery/coffee shop in Skaneateles (around mile 30) which really hit the spot as breakfast was very sparse this morning.
After our coffee stop, we headed north towards Baldwinsville. The 30% chance of rain became a reality and we ended up getting really wet. Luckily it stopped raining and we dried off before we hit our picnic spot in Baldwinsville by the Seneca River (around mile 50).
After picnic, we had another 35 miles to our final destination. We arrived at the Yogi Bear’s Campground to find out Kim had reserved one of the cabins for us. So, indoor accommodations for the night and hot coffee in the morning before breakfast. What a treat!
Stats: 85 miles, 3,369 feet of elevation gain.
