Day 54 Mexico to Watertown NY

It was a short leisurely ride today, only 55 miles. We actually, had a late start which made that fresh brewed coffee in the cabin this morning extra special!

Breakfast was served about 5 miles up the road at the Lakeside Restaurant.  They had some delicious coffee cakes.

Today’s route took us mostly on route 3 which is close to Lake Ontario but no real Lake Views until around mile 30. We had one stop before the views that was known for great donuts.  Bruce stopped as well and purchased a bag of donuts which he shared with us!  They were so good - melt in your mouth, light and covered with cinnamon/sugar. Yummy! I really need to cut down on my eating, as I am totally out of control!

Back to the route,  the views of Lake Ontario opened up around mile 30.  Then we rode on to Sackett’s Harbor which is a quaint and a very historic town where several battles were fought. We had picnic there and it was right on the lake in the center of town. Beautiful!  After picnic we had only 14 miles left to the Watertown Middle school where we are opting for they gymnasium accommodations.
