Day 55 Watertown to Star Lake NY
Another late start this morning for two reasons:
1. It was another short day with a late breakfast and
2. I accidentally packed my bike bag with my luggage so had hunt down a staff person to borrow a tube before leaving. We were one of the last ones out!
It was a cool morning start so we wore our jackets. The route was a gentle uphill most of the day with a few steep climbs at the end.
We entered the Adirondack Region around mile 25. It is very remote and I think we only saw 2 gas stations the whole day. The roads were great, terrain rolling and roads were more rock and pine tree lined today. We actually saw blue skies and the sun today too!
When we arrived in Star Lake the temps were in the 60’s at 12:30. What a difference from last week! Star Lake is very small with one restaurant and a great coffee/lunch spot which we visited before heading to the school to set up our indoor camp.
Dinner tonight was at the restaurant/bar. We had a great thanksgiving feast and brownies for dessert.
Stats: 62 miles, 3,092 feet of elevation gain
